| #1 | A good tip is always make sure an experienced doctor performs the Lumbar Puncture. I had a really bad experience once with an intern. The attending was standing right next to him, but it was the first time the intern had to perform this. He made it extremely painful because he had no clue what he was doing. He could have made me paralyzed, this is serious that someone knows how to perform a lumbar puncture. I finally yelled out( and I never yelled out at any of these people), "Can the attending please do this? I am in too much pain." The guy said the intern had to learn, but then I asked, "If I was your daughter would this intern still be learning with me? Or is it because I have no medical insurance?" The attending then took over and was finished a lot faster.
I know interns have to learn, but perhaps they can read up on where to enter the spine before practicing on a human. It was horrible!
I know for a fact when you don't have medical insurance or a good insurance, you sometimes get treated like dog poo. It isn't nice.

| #2 | I hear ya sister! I absolutely despise interns because they never know what the hell they are doing to me. And I hate it when my doc asks if "a medical student" can sit in on my appointment. Hell no! I don't pay all that money for her to gawk at me. __________________ 4mg of Morphine a day keeps the doctor away. |
