Are you on some kind of antidepressant?
Where do you get all that good humor, from your food?

Well, I take Prozac regularly since in the UK, but  stopped a month ago!
The doc wants me to start another one (Citalopran), not sure if should take it...sorry, I'm talking about other thing's!
I take vitamins and food supplements.
Don't remember all of them now - but I swallow every day :1gr vit C, fish oil capsule, Co Q 10 (30mg), Ginko Biloba, Calcium & Magnesium, Ymea (Menopause), etc

Apologize to Dia, I'm not talking about Kelp here ( I think she said all about it), anymore!

Citalopran - It works in the same way as tricycles- You have 3 different groups :
-Sedative tricycles: Amitriptyline, Clomipramine,Dothiepin & Trimipramine
-Non-sedative tricycles: Amoxapine, Desipramine, Imipramine, Loprefamine &
Nortriptyline
-Stimulant tricylic: Protripline
=Some side effects of tricycles:
-blurring of vision
-constipation
-difficulty getting an erection and in ejaculation
-diffilcuty passing water
-dry mouth
-effects on the heart ( fast or irregularly)
-giddiness on standing
-sweating
-tremor of the hands
-weight gain

I'm getting lost again, lets go back to the SSRIs
-serotin re-uptake inhibitors
Some of them
-Fluoxetine ( famous Prozac)
-Fluvoxamine
-Sertraline
-Citalopram

They work in the same way as tricyclics - they stop neurotransmitters being taken back up into the cell that released them. But, they only work on one type of neurotransmitter - serotin !

They are less sedative, do not cause weight gain and do not affect the heart
as much as tricyclics.
Some side effects of SSRIs:
-Stomach problems
-Diarrhea
-Nausea
-Vomiting
-Headache
-Restless
-Anxiety

Prozac has been called "the happy pill" because it has got the reputation of making people with mild depression happier. These people probably may have got better with lifestyle changes alone. There are many doctors in the USA worried about being over-prescribed. Other SSRIs have similar functions and are as efficacious as Prozac!

About me and Prozac - I took that so many times ( before I know Fluoxetine was the real name of the drug)

Most of the times I get better with it, sometimes the first 2 weeks are more
difficult ( feel electric, anxious)but  after that, it is OK!
Can get a bit stomach upset, stop eating when full, sweets don't taste that good anymore, etc.

So, I don't like to be too long on anti depressants - I will stop for a few months, then I will start again!
Maybe I'm addicted somehow to some of the side effects?

Now, I don't know where that thread reply belong's to ...
I'm afraid it has nothing to do with Kelp...

Once again, I'm talking about antidepressants in the wrong thread!

There are over 30 antidepressants on the market,  also there's so many different kinds of depressions. People have very different reactions to these ( and others) drugs, we all know that, I suppose...

the "giddiness on standing" sounds fun lol I'd be sitting and standing up alot if that was the case. think i'll stand up - weeeeeeeee! let's do it again. lol. then again maybe I shouldn't take anything to make giddier. i think i am giddy enough lol

they once tried me on paxil, trazadone and then later cymbalta when I first was diagnosed with the cyst and I had this anxiety like never before and i had no idea, and it began to effect my sleep. didn't even think to look into the cyst because "it doesn't do anything" I was told. *rolls eyes*. Cymbalta was like crack. It actaully made manic which is not much fun. They also tried me on ... that sleeping medication, which I later found out one should not take if they are depressed AND one of the side effects..,and I kid you not - was insomnia
